April is the season of Sakura! Sakura, also known as Japanese Cherry Blossoms, are the most beautiful trees that ever existed. Sakura season means hanami (picnics under a cherry tree), late evenings, gorgeous colors, and a reflection on the natural transience of life. I love this season and I love these trees so I decided to bring their beauty into the classroom. I used a simple two-color scheme (white and pink). The trees frame the board in rough, linear sketches. Then I added flowers and petals everywhere! I didn’t focus on an exact shape and I blended the colors together to give the flowers a little more depth. The board is actually green, which I think was a nice background color for this piece. Finally, I added “APRIL” in easy to write letters. Voila! The beauty of Sakura stayed with us from April to June!
