Special Feature: Christmas

Christmastime is here! (or it was here, seven months ago, when I should have posted this).

Christmas in Japan can be heartwarming and humorous.  I typically don’t teach much in December but I wanted to have a spirited English Board in the classroom.  I chose Mariah Carey to lead us in song with her ever-lasting hit, “All I Want for Christmas is You”, which is just as popular in Japan as it is in the states.  Then I featured Santa Claus as the person of the week.  Finally, instead of a Country of the Month, I threw up a dozen little bits of info about Christmas traditions, songs, and food.  To add extra pizazz I wrapped it all up in sparkly garland and added a few bows from the Y100 store.  It was a fun and easy way to bring Christmas to the students.  I even recycled some paper presents from last year.

Happy Holidays!
