Song of the Week: Let It Go

Yes, “Let It Go” was a cheap choice but I would be silly not to bank roll on the immense popularity of Frozen, even six months after its release in the US.  Japan only had its first glimpse of Frozen in March.  I knew my students would return to school in April with tales of Ana’s heroism and squeals of delight from Olaf’s comedy.  Therefore, making “Let It Go” the first Song of the Week of the new school year was the obvious choice.  I’m a bit embarrassed to say I went with the Demi Lovato version instead of Idina’s superb original.  But I wanted a translation of the English lyrics, not the Japanese version of the song, made for the Japanese movie.  If you’re interested, the Japanese lyrics are completely different than the original American lyrics, changing the overall meaning of the song.  So, to avoid confusion, I went with a Japanese translation of the English pop song, performed by Demi Lovato.

Lots of glitter!

Lots of glitter!

Students loved it! I had to print extra copies of the lyrics!
